LAST WILL & TESTAMENT

In the Name of God Amen, the fifth day of August in the year of our Lord 1772, I, Benoni Kent of Fairfax County an Parish of _____Planter being sick and weak in Body but of perfect mind and memory, thanks be given unto God therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave it and for my Body, I recommend it to the earth to be buried in a Christian like and decent manner at thediscretion of my executors nothing doubling but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly estate no herewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form.

Imprimis, I give and Bequesth to Jean, my Dearly Beloved wife the one third part of my estate to her freely to be enjoyed.

Item I give and Bequeath to my beloved daughter Ann Caracoe  two cows and two calves with the other things I formerly lent her.  My will is that the remainder part of my estate by equally divided between my other ten children Viz. John, Samuel, Daniel, Thomas, Sampson and Peter, Susanner, Mary, Sarah and Elizabeth.

But if my daughter Mary should die without an heir my desire is that her part of my estate be divided equally amongst my other nine children.

My will and desire is that my sons shall be for their selves at the age of eighteen years if my wife should then prosper to marry; my will is that my estate be divided at the appraisement as above mentioned.

Lastly, I Nomenate, constitute make and ordain my beloved son John Kent my only and sole executor of this my last will and testament and I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disannul all and every other former testament wills and legacies requests and executors by me in any ways before this time named willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament.

Signed, Saled Published, Pronounced and declared by the said Benoni Kent his last will and tesatment in the presence of us the Subscribers.

At a court and held for the county of Fairfax 24th March 1774.

This will was presented in court by John Kent Executor herein named and the same being proved by the oath of Samuel Clark and Henry Loyd is admitted to record and the said executor having performed with the laws require a certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate thereof in Due forme,Clk.
